Stop procrastinating and start healing

by Andrea Richardson

It's easy to procrastinate and avoid taking action to improve our health.

Reversing disease naturally with diet and lifestyle is reasonably simple, but it takes time to see results and we must be prepared to persist for weeks and months to achieve healing.

Taking responsibility and ownership of our health sounds easy, by why do so many people have trouble committing and sticking to a plan?  It comes down to 4 things:

  • Desire
  • Persistence
  • Support
  • Knowledge

Without one of these key things, then we fail.

Desire

Most people have a desire to get well, but what many people lack is motivation.

If a disease can be managed with medication or symptoms aren't severe enough to disrupt lifestyle, we are more likely to procrastinate and avoid changing our diet and lifestyle.

The most motivated people are often those who are suffering the most. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes people to get to quite sick, before they take action. That's fine, but recovery takes longer, than if they acted straight away.

But we don't need to wait until our body and mind is falling apart to act!  By consciously listening and reacting to subtle symptoms, we can act sooner and avoid worse health problems.

Persistence

Healing is a long, slow, steady journey filled with ups and downs.

We don't get fit, achieve our ideal weight or reverse disease after 1 week.  It's the culminative effect of months and years of good choices.

When we choose to create better health, we need to understand it's the small things we do everyday that make the difference.  We need to conscioulsy make the decision to persist daily, to see long term benefits.

By procrastinating and telling ourselves we'll start tomorrow, we are missing an opportunity for growth and good health.  There's not time like the present to make better choices.

Support

The opinion of others can influence our mindset and affect the decisions we make.

Supportive people in our lives encourage us to take positive action and help us achieve our goals. However, negative people create an environment that disempowers us and pushes us into inaction and doubt.

When we surround ourselves with supportive, like minded people, our health journey is more enjoyable and easier.  We are less likely to procrastinate and more likely to take positive actions.

Knowledge

As the saying goes, "Knowledge is power", and this is certainly true when reversing disease and restoring our health naturally.

It's critical to empower ourselves with information, so we can take the correct action. Trying something random and failing only creates doubt and hopelessness.  We lose focus and motivation, which can lead us to give up.

Having the right information and a solid plan, allows us to get results easier.  This then leads to greater confidence, motivation and success.

And when we feel in control and successful, our happiness increases and we procrastinate less.
